If in doubt, it’s best to get a complete speech-language evaluation by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.

How do I know I need speech therapy services? Adults

If you have experienced a neurological change/accident (CVA, seizures, traumatic brain injury, etc.) or have been diagnosed with a neurological disorder (Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, etc.), and have noticed a change in your speech, language, memory, or swallowing function.

Why do I need to see a Speech-Language Pathologist for changes in my swallowing?

It the event of a suspected or confirmed neurological change/accident (CVA/stroke, seizures, traumatic brain injury, etc.), you are at risk of acquiring oropharyngeal dysphagia, which can cause aspiration, and pneumonia. It is also recommended you seek a speech therapy evaluation for swallowing even if you have not suffered any neurological changes, yet continue to have frequent events of coughing or choking while eating or drinking, and frequent episodes of pneumonia.

Does my insurance cover speech therapy services?

We currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield. It is best to call your insurance plan prior to scheduling services to confirm copay per session and deductible.

What if my insurance is out of network?

We highly recommend asking your insurance about “out of network benefits”, specifically if speech therapy is covered by out of network benefits. We also provide a superbill upon request, where we are reimbursed up front, and you seek reimbursement from your insurance company with the superbill provided by us, which contains services provided and amount billed.

Do you provide in home services?

We provide in home services on a limited basis, and on a first come, first serve basis. We currently service the following areas: Cypress and Jersey Village on alternating days.
